So Much to Sing For: AbZolutely Choir Northumberland Year End Concert to Benefit Community Care Meals on Wheels

May 27, 2025 | Events

Whoever thinks choral music can’t be fresh, fun and a joy to listen to, hasn’t been to an AbZolutely Choir Northumberland concert. On Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m., this non-auditioned, mixed-genre women’s ensemble brings their trademark joie de vivre to the Trinity United Church for a concert to benefit Community Care Northumberland’s Meals on Wheels program.

From nutrition and transportation, to wellness, in-home and hospice services, Community Care Northumberland’s mission is to connect our communities to the support, service and care they need throughout their lifelong journey building a community where people experience connection and well-being.

As a registered not-for-profit organization, Community Care Northumberland programs would not succeed without the support of the many volunteers, donors, and funders that believe in this work.

“All of us at Community Care Northumberland want to thank the talented AbZolutely Choir Northumberland for choosing the Meals on Wheels program to benefit from their concert this year” says Sheri Birney, Manager of Nutrition Services. “We rely on the generosity of individuals, corporate partners and community groups. The Meals on Wheels program provides affordable and convenient meal options to support the nutritional needs of our clientele.”

AbZolutely Choir Northumberland is directed by award-winning singer songwriter, arranger, and educator Abby Zotz, and she is thrilled about joining forces with Community Care Northumberland. “This year we’re featuring guest dancers, soundscapes and even a little vocal improvisation,” Abby says.

With arrangements featuring beloved hits by Gordon Lightfoot, Toto, indie artists like The Lumineers, and The Strumbellas, and more than one song that will have you feeling extremely proud to be a Canadian, the choir aims to “lift hearts and spirits into a celebration of the things that matter most in these challenging times — love, compassion and human connection,” says Abby. “And we dare you not to sing along!”
