Hike, Bike and Bark Raises Record $61,629!

Community Care Northumberland’s is very pleased to announce that Hike Bike and Bark raised a record $61,629.00 to support Hospice services.   

“The funds raised through Hike Bike and Bark are critical to the hospice care we provide, at no cost to individuals, whether you are living in your home in the community or while a resident at Ed’s House.” states Trish Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland.  “Many thanks go out to all our generous sponsors, donors, participants and to the dedicated members of our Special Events Committee for all their efforts in making this event such a tremendous success.”

Hike Bike and Bark was a hybrid event that kicked off on August 27th and ran until September 10th.  Participants chose to hike, ride their bike, or go for a walk with their furry friend.  At the wrap up pancake breakfast held at Ed’s House on September 10th it was announced that Selena Forsyth was the top individual fundraiser raising over $9,000 and top individual team was the “Gazelles” lead by Jennifer Darrell raising over $15,000.

Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre is a hospice centre in Hamilton Township that

opened in the fall of 2020. An integral service of Community Care Northumberland, the centre

acts as a centralized ‘hub’ for CCN’s interdisciplinary hospice services team by providing

caregiver support, palliative outreach and education, health system navigation and grief and

bereavement support in addition to resident hospice care. Ed’s House provides a comfortable

setting to receive palliative support from early family engagement and beyond at no cost to
